Engels:
“ I truly believe that Maastricht with its international orientation, its institutions, its new economical orientation on knowledge and service industry is the right place for establishing such an institute as MICEE. The various emerging economies in Central and Eastern Europe are very important partners for us in our own development”, said Mr Onno Hoes, Mayor of Maastricht during the official opening ceremony on the 19th of December 2012
Maastricht is the birthplace of the modern Europe. Mr Hoes hopes that: “the start of MICEE will mark the beginning of an even larger European position for our city, with growing relations in all kind of ways with Central and Eastern Europe. Because relations are the key to international and mutual understanding and benefits.
Maastricht is not an international city through its position, its history, its buildings or even the international institutes. It is an international city due to the people who live, work and meet here. They make the city international”.
He congratulated the board of MICEE with the opening of this new star among the Maastricht Institutes.
President of MICEE Jan Mans underlined the central aim of this Institute: “Initiation, development and support of a network between companies and organisations in Limburg and the surrounding European regions in Germany and Belgium which are active or intend to be active in Russia, Central and East Europe and vice versa”.
Furthermore, he presented some examples of existing and successful cooperation projects with Central and Eastern Europe. .
President Mans concluded: “ MICEE was born in August and the official announcement of this birth is today. As the board of governors, we hope that in a couple of years this baby will be an adult and that we have succeeded in initiating several new remarkable projects”.
About 50guests , among them the ambassadors of the Russian Federation, Poland and the Slovak Republic, consuls of Poland and Montenegro and representatives of the Hungarian embassy were present at the official opening of MICEE on December 19th.
